Time Domain Analysis of NB-IoT Signals

The NB-IoT (NarrowBand-Internet of Things) radio technology is now widely implemented by mobile phone network operators to support the communication IoT devices such as smart meters, insurance black boxes for cars, connected waste bins, bicycles. In present work, some LTE800 cells different implementing in guard band mode have been investigated. signals, consisting a PRB (Physical Resource Block) 180 kHz wide, analyzed and characterized time domain means narrow instrumental chain equipped with Rohde & Schwarz FSH8 spectrum analyzer. Time analysis allows us identify, within transmission frame, position signaling channels Narrowband Reference Signal (NRS), primary (NPSS) secondary (NSSS) synchronization signals broadcast channel (NPBCH), but, above all, measure power received during NRS. This value has compared that measured decoding module supplied on same analyzer, order verify equivalence these measurement methods. would allow use more diffuse cheaper instrumentation rather than expensive vector analyzers, currently required assess electric fields due through extrapolation techniques set Italian CEI 211-7/E technical standard.
